The win is historic on several fronts: Boong is the first Indian film ever to receive a BAFTA in this category, and it is also the first film directed by an Indian woman to win a BAFTA in any category. For India’s women filmmakers—especially those working outside the mainstream Hindi film industry—this recognition marks a deeply affirming milestone. What is more; Boong marks the directorial debut of Lakshmipriya Devi, a Manipuri filmmaker whose sensitive storytelling and grounded visual style have drawn international praise. Holi, the festival of colors, was celebrated with traditional enthusiasm at various locations across Atlanta this weekend. Community organizations hosted vibrant events filled with music, dance, and cultural performances. Families and friends gathered in large numbers, marking one of the highest turnouts in recent years. Participants joyfully smeared each other with colorful powders, symbolizing unity and renewal. Live DJs and traditional dhol performances added energy and rhythm to the festivities. Children and adults enjoyed festive foods, games, and community activities throughout the day. Organizers expressed delight at the overwhelming response from the local community, As colors filled the air, so did laughter and joy — capturing the true essence of Holi and highlighting Atlanta’s vibrant and thriving Indian‑American community.

On February 15, 2026, devotees of Shree Sadhana Mandir gathered at the Impact Conference Center, Global Mall, Norcross, GA, to celebrate Mahashivratri. Families offered prayers as Acharya Ved P. Joshiji led Ganapati Pooja, Shivparivar Pooja, Shiv Pooja, and Rudrabhishek. Bhajans and Aarti brought the community together, while youth and volunteers assisted with puja. Devotees shared mahaprasad, and the night concluded with devotion and collective worship. The sacred prayer echoed, “Tava tattwam na janami kidrishosi maheshwara…” Har Har Mahadev.

Aabaha, Inc. announces the Aabaha Samman Awards as part of the Aabaha Art & Theater Festival (AATF) 2026, to be held August 14–16, 2026 at The Eagle Theatre @ Sugar Hill, GA. The Aabaha Samman is Aabaha’s signature recognition honoring individuals whose work has made a lasting impact on theatre and community arts, celebrating artistic excellence and cultural leadership beyond borders. Among the 2026 honorees is Dibyendu Paul, a distinguished playwright, actor, and director, recognized for over four decades of contributions to theatre and for fostering cultural exchange between the United States and India. Trained under renowned theatre masters, Paul has presented acclaimed productions across both countries and is widely respected for mentoring artists and bridging East–West theatrical traditions. AATF 2026 will feature eight+ stage productions, an art exhibition, and a seminar/community dialogue. Additional details will be announced soon.
